GraphPad Prism is an analysis and graphing solution purpose-built for scientific research. GraphPad Prism (Version 8 and higher) integrates seamlessly with LabArchives for Government, allowing you to export Prism files directly into your LabArchives notebook and re-save opened files to the same Notebook Page—preserving version history.
Initial Configuration (One-Time Setup Required)
Before you can use LabArchives within GraphPad Prism, you must create a configuration file that enables Prism to connect to the LabArchives Government instance.
1. Create a Configuration File
- Open Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
- Name the file:
labarchivesconfig.txt -
Copy and past the information in the file:
Login: https://mynotebook.labarchives-gov.com API: https://mynotebook.labarchives-gov.com Browse: https://mynotebook.labarchives-gov.com ErrorConnecting = Prism cannot connect to the Government LabArchives instance TryAccountBlurb = University has a site license for LabArchives, so the free trial is not available
Need help? A pre-configured labarchivesconfig.txt file is available for download below this article.
2. Save the File in the Correct Directory
The configuration file must be placed in a specific directory depending on your operating system.
- Windows:
Save to:C:\Program Files\GraphPad\Prism[version number] - Mac:
Save to:/Library/Application Support/GraphPad/Prism/Configor/Library/Application Support/GraphPad/Prism/[version number]
Restart GraphPad Prism after saving the file.
Connecting GraphPad Prism to LabArchives
Once the configuration is in place, you’ll be able to log into LabArchives directly from Prism.

Saving Updates - Subsequent Saves
For future saves of the same file, you’ll see the Rearchive It screen with two options:
-
Archive to Inbox as a New File
Sends a new copy of the file to your Inbox, leaving the original unchanged. -
Rearchive as Updated File
Saves changes as a new version of the existing file.
You can add notes in the What changed and Description fields to track updates.
If the file hasn’t yet been moved from the Inbox to a notebook page, the updated version will still go to the Inbox.
