The LabArchives Microsoft Office Plugin (MOPI) seamlessly integrates Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with LabArchives on Windows. Once installed, it allows users to securely create, access, save, and manage documents within their LabArchives notebooks—all from directly within the Microsoft Office applications they already use every day.

Using LabArchives in Microsoft Office
Once logged in, you can save, open, and manage documents directly within Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint using the LabArchives options available from the File menu.
Saving a File
From the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint File menu, click Save as to LabArchives.
In the Save Files window:
- Select your notebook from the dropdown.
- Expand the folder list and choose a page.
- Add a name to the file, then click Save.
After the initial save, any time you click Save (e.g., using Ctrl + S), a prompt will appear asking if you’d like to upload the changes to LabArchives. Click Yes to confirm.
Each upload updates the revision history of the document in LabArchives.
Opening a File
From the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint File menu, click Open from LabArchives.
In the Open Files window:
- Select your notebook and navigate to the appropriate page.
- View the list of available Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.
- Select a file and click Open.
If you already have a local version and LabArchives has a newer one, you’ll be prompted to choose which version to open.
Detaching a File
To stop syncing a document with LabArchives, from the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint File menu, click Detach from LabArchives.
This breaks the connection between your local file and the version stored in LabArchives. Any future changes will only be saved to your computer.
