The Advanced Search menu includes a Chemical Search field which can be used to locate exact structures or substructures by entering a SMILES string or drawing the molecule.
LabArchives supports chemical structure searches using files stored in your notebook (such as .cdx, .cdxml, .mol, or .sdf) or sketches created with the built-in Chemical Sketcher widget.
To open the Advanced Search menu, click the downward triangle icon from Search Notebook field. The bottom of the Advanced Search menu includes the Chemical field with an option to input the SMILES or Draw Structure button (shown as a hexagon with a pencil icon).
Search by SMILES
If you know the SMILES string of the molecule or substructure, enter it directly into the input field and click Search.
Search by Drawing
If you don’t know the SMILES string, click Draw Structure to open the Chemical Sketcher. Draw your molecule or substructure, then click Use this Chemical Structure to apply it.
If searching across multiple notebooks, a list of notebooks containing the matching chemical structure will appear—you can click on any notebook to view the specific entries where the structure is found. If searching within the current open notebook, click on the page or folder indicated through the numbers showing the matching entries.
