REDCap, a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases, integrates with LabArchives allowing you to connect and upload REDcap reports directly to LabArchives. The Mass General Brigham REDCap team envisioned and developed the LabArchives External Module (EM) as an interface into a user's LabArchives Notebooks. The EM meets essential LabArchives integration requirements, supports customization at the institution level (by a REDCap Administrator), and it can successfully upload REDCap reports into the user's LabArchives notebooks.
The LabArchives REDCap integration requires setup and configuration by your institution's REDCap Administrators. If you are the REDCap Administrator for your institution, see the External Module named MGB LabArchives via the Consortium’s REDCap Repo repository of external modules. Administrators can access the full set of directions on setting up the integration here.
Connecting your REDCap account to LabArchives and Uploading Reports
If this is your first time accessing LabArchives from REDCap you will be prompted to input the email address that coincides with your LabArchives account and a password. In place of the password, generate a token using the LabArchives temporary token. This step connects your LabArchives and REDCap accounts together and the information is saved so you should only need to do this connection once.
Once you have logged in, you’ll be prompted to select a LabArchives notebook that you own where the report will be uploaded. Select the notebook and click Upload to send the file to LabArchives.
In the selected LabArchives notebook, the report will be stored in a folder called REDCap. This folder will be auto-generated at the time of upload if the folder does not already exist. The page and file name will include the date and time that the file was uploaded and the name of the report. To learn more about working with entry attachments, click here.
